MegaRay SB 100 WATT Self-Ballasted FLOOD UVB LAMP

This all-in-one lamp is our top-of-the-range 100 watt SB Par-38 Narrow Flood Lamp which has been shown in tests to produce similar amounts of UVB to natural sunlight! - along with adequate heat to create a basking spot at the recommended distances, in many circumstances. This Mac Industries/Westron Lighting original design provides the necessary UVB and heat for your UVB-dependent basking reptiles.

Our MegaRay SB 100 watt Narrow Flood Lamp produces more UVB than other true Mercury Vapor Floods, yet is safer for owners! Our design directs the majority of the UVB from the face of the bulb, rather than diffuse it across a 180° angle.

SPECIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM distance setting of 12" will produce approximately 150-200 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2).
MAXIMUM distance setting of 20" will produce 50-75 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2).
(Distance is measured from lamp face to basking spot or reptile for optimum UVB and heat.)

DESCRIPTION:
Mega-Ray SB 100-watt narrow-flood all-in-one is a 100-watt SB Par-38 True Frosted Flood Lamp. A true flood lamp, it will disperse usable UVB in a 30" circumference at a 20" distance. This bulb is warranted* for 6 months to produce a minimum of 50 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2) at 12".

WARNING:
This 100-watt self-ballasted bulb also produces heat. It is very important that you monitor the heat at the basking area and adjust the fixture-to-basking area distance accordingly to maintain a proper heat gradient.

* The product will be replaced with the remaining 6 months purchase time covered. For example: If the lamp fails at 3 months, you will receive a replacement item with the remaining 3-months on the warranty.

How Much is Too Much?
Some other new mercury vapor products currently on the market can be deemed dangerous to reptiles, emitting up to 3 times more than the sun does, yet many others emit very little UVB. Basically it comes down to this:

50-250 uW/cm2 mimics the natural environment enough to keep your UV-dependent BASKING reptiles healthy, depending on the species according to the latest research. "Hey I ordered one of these UV bulbs [MegaRay SB-Line] from this company. It arrived today, let me tell you I put it in late in the day, because that's when I get home, and the color change on the igs was instant!

They both sprawled out under this thing till it went off. I have tried one [MV Bulb] before but the bulb wasn't like this one, it seemed to be more fragile and if you knocked it a little bit it would go out and you would have to wait a while for it to come back on.

This new line seems to be better built and I see a big difference over the fluorescent. Cost me about the same as it would for 2, 4- foot fluorescents, so the price is cool by me. I would definitely recommend these over the tubes any day.

I have found that the mega ray globe is fantastic.

I have read and experienced that with all the other UVB fluorescent
globes (that I used prior to the Mega ray) you can install the Fluorescent
globe in the enclosure that you think your iguana will love and gain the most UVB ray available, but as many iguana owners know with these fluorescent globes you find yourself installing and moving the lighting around many times, in
the hope that your iguana will get the UVB rays that they require. I have
experienced twice now with both of my iguana's that with the Mega ray it
is the total opposite, I have found that with both my iguanas, in different
tanks that they actually go to relax under the light no matter where you
decide to install the globe. This attraction is not over a few days, but I
have found with both of my iguanas once I have installed the Mega Ray
within 10 minutes they moved under the light to relax. Every morning once I
turn the lighting one, within ten minutes of the light being on, they in the
same place as 80% of the day, under the Mega Ray globe.

I got my recent order of 3 self ballasted 100w Megaray flood lamps. Got another story for ya. I had a halogen bulb over my yearling tortoises for a couple of months 'cause I added some enclosures, but hadn't gotten around to ordering the extra Megaray's that I knew I needed. (I know. What the heck was I thinking?) Anyway, I plugged in the new lamps, and within 24 hours, those tortoises came BACK TO LIFE! They had been acting sluggish for about a month. Suddenly, they were acting HAPPY again. Thanks for a great product! -Pam M.

Thanks for sending me the Mega Ray. I love this bulb. The beam spread is so wide and the numbers with my uvb meter are so good especially at the periphery. Also the color of the light is very close to the whiteness of the 5500K Reptisuns and the 5100K 55watt compact fluorescents in all of my vivariums so I don¹t have to shut them off for photography.
That¹s the good news.That bad news is I don¹t want to use the old 60w EBs anymore after seeing the Mega Ray. Now I see this new megaray bulb and I want to go back to MV as the primary.
