MegaRay SB 160 WATT Self-Ballasted FLOOD UVB LAMP

This all-in-one lamp is our 160 watt SB Par-38 Narrow Flood Lamp which produces more UVB than a standard MegaRay 100 watt lamp, along with more heat, and can therefore be used at slightly greater recommended distances. This Mac Industries/Westron Lighting original design provides the necessary UVB and heat for your UVB-dependent basking reptiles.

Our Mega-Ray SB 160-watt Narrow-Flood Lamp produces more UVB than other true Mercury Vapor Floods, yet is safer for owners! Our design directs the majority of the UVB from the face of the bulb, rather than diffuse it across a 180° angle.

SPECIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM distance setting of 18"” will produce approximately 150-200 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2).
MAXIMUM distance setting of 24" will produce approximately 50-75 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2).
(Distance is measured from lamp face to basking spot or reptile for optimum UVB and heat.)

DESCRIPTION:
Mega-Ray SB 160-watt narrow-flood all-in-one is a 160-watt SB Par-38 True Frosted Flood Lamp. A true flood lamp, it will disperse usable UVB in a 30" circumference at a 20" distance. This bulb is warranted* for 6 months to produce a minimum of 50 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2) at 12".

How Much is Too Much?
Some other new mercury vapor products currently on the market can be deemed dangerous to reptiles, emitting up to 3 times more than the sun does, yet many others emit very little UVB. Basically it comes down to this:

50-250 uW/cm2 mimics the natural environment enough to keep your UV-dependent BASKING reptiles healthy, depending on the species according to the latest research. At Mac Industries, we choose to be responsible in our approach to high-output UVB-emitting Mercury Vapor lamps. Your reptile's health is just as important to us as the customer service we provide.

So we aim to produce products which provide UVB within these safe limits when our lamps are used properly according to our instructions.

WARNING:
This 160-watt self-ballasted bulb also produces heat. It is important that you monitor the heat at the basking area and adjust the fixture-to-basking area distance accordingly to maintain a proper heat gradient.

* The product will be replaced with the remaining 6 months purchase time covered. For example: If the lamp fails at 3 months, you will receive a replacement item with the remaining 3 months on the warranty.

Just a note to say how pleased I am with the MegaRay SB bulbs I started using on 3-31-05. I've used others for two years, satisfactorily, but since installing your bulbs, the Diamondback terrapins are spending easily three times as long basking. The same is true for the Texas maps, and African sidenecks.
I'm using the 160-watt floods at 18".
Soon I will experiment with the 60-watt EB bulbs and the heat emitter.
