MegaRay EB 60 watt Flood UVB Lamp Kit (Product Code #3234)

MegaRay EB 60 watt Flood UVB Lamp Kit - 120 volt

MEGARAY EB 60 watt FLOOD UVB LAMP KIT
- 120 volt flood lamp complete with matching ballast box

This is the lamp we've all dreamed of! This lamp is our top-of-the-range unique 60 watt EB Par-38 Narrow Flood Lamp which has been shown in tests to produce similar amounts of UVB to natural sunlight at the recommended distances! This Mac Industries/Westron Lighting original design provides the necessary UVB for your UVB-dependent basking reptiles.

Our 60-watt EB Par-38 Narrow Flood Lamp produces dynamic UVB, has a significantly reduced decay rate, and comes equipped with a long-life external ballast that reduces bulb failures. This Mac Industries/Westron Lighting original design is found nowhere else in the world!

This lamp produces more UVB than any other true Mercury Vapor Flood, yet is safer for owners! How? Our design directs the majority of the UVB from the face of the bulb, rather than diffuse it across a 180° angle.

SPECIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM distance setting of 12" will produce 150-200 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2).
(If you need more UVB, tell us. We can give you what you want.)
MAXIMUM distance setting of 20" will produce 50-75 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2).
(Distance is measured from lamp face to basking spot or reptile for optimum UVB and heat.)

DESCRIPTION:
The MegaRay EB flood is a 60-watt EB Par-38 True Frosted Flood Lamp, the only one of its kind in the world. A true flood lamp, it will disperse usable UVB in a 30” circumference at a 20” distance. This bulb is warranted
* for one full year to produce a minimum of 50 microwatts (uW/cm2) at 12” and our initial testing shows even higher readings. Our external ballast is warranted for 2 full years, and we believe it will last much longer.

WARNING:
This 60-watt energy-efficient bulb produces very little heat. Be sure your reptile is heated properly with a good heat source like our MegaRay Heat Projector.

* The product will be replaced with the remaining one-year purchase time covered. For example: If the lamp fails at 9-months, you will receive a replacement item with the remaining 3-months on the warranty.

How Much is Too Much?
Some other new mercury vapor products currently on the market can be deemed dangerous to reptiles, emitting up to 3 times more than the sun does, yet many others emit very little UVB. Basically it comes down to this:

50-250 uW/cm2 mimics the natural environment enough to keep your UV-dependent BASKING reptiles healthy, depending on the species, according to the latest research. At Mac Industries, we choose to be responsible in our approach to high-output UVB-emitting Mercury Vapor lamps. Your reptile's health is just as important to us as the customer service we provide.

So we aim to produce products which provide UVB within these safe limits when our lamps are used properly according to our instructions.

SIGNIFICANT DESIGN CHANGES MEAN IMPROVED LONGEVITY:
Westron Lighting Corporations externally Ballasted (EB) lamps mean no more premature burn-outs common among internal filament ballasts. Put simply, these new bulbs last significantly longer than any “other” style.

-Using cutting edge technology coupled with tremendous research and testing, we have conquered and significantly reduced the huge decay rates so common in other Mercury Vapor lamps. While other bulbs decay as much as 80%, our newly designed EB bulbs decay less than 30% over the life of the bulb, setting a new standard!

RESPONSIBLE QUALITY ASSURANCE MEANS MORE CONSISTENT OUTPUT.
All of our bulbs are pre-tested with state-of-the-art testing equipment. Our bulbs also come with the UVB rating written right on the bulb *ON REQUEST*. No one else in the world is confident enough to do this! These Quality Assurance measures ensure that you will never have to worry about your reptiles receiving poor UVB under these lamps. Tell us your requirement for UVB and we can give it to you.

"I recently got the Mega-ray Flood, external ballast. weird looking set-up...but boy does it crank UVB! It's very different in the start-up from my other varitey pack of merc vaps. it starts out very dim, then over 5-10 min, brightens up and the UVB picks up. I'm getting a tad over 300 at 12 inches, and 70-ish at 2 ft. it puts out a tiny bit of heat, but not much. so far..I'm impressed!" -Darry C.(N.C.)

"Forget the rest..... Buy the best."
www.reptileuv.com has the best UVB technology right now.!
Microwatt for microwatt, you get the best bulb for your buck. I just received the EB version and set it up. I'm getting a 60 reading at 24" after initial start up.

Rex's colors look amazing under it.

The external ballast is not much trouble at all, in fact I like the fact that it extends the cord and has an in-line on/off switch! -Dominick (N.J.)

"The MegaRay is working great, my iguana thanks you! Before he wasn't too keen on the basking spot. He prefered to hang out under the CHE, but now with the megaray he stays in the basking spot
for hours!"-Shaun C.

"Absolutely great !!!!
Got my sickly tortoise eating like a pig!"

Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!]-by John Henry

"Yes! I can see a difference in all three of them! Iggy is soooooooo much brighter in color and all three of them have increased their appetite and seem so much more active. Bam-Bam is really hard to keep in her cage because, I'm guessing that she feels so much better now with the right lights."-Debbie- Antioch, TN

"Thank you and thank you Bob Mac, I wish to let you all know that Reptile UV took care of my problem very quickly, was very sincere, and is very understanding, thumbs up. I will definitely do business again w/ Reptile UV and will support their products. Thank you again. Jim and Geedra

I'm writing to confirm that the new Megaray 60wtEB Flood Kit is certainly everything it claims to be.

When I set up the light, I used my new Solarmeter UVB Meter to measure the output, which I found to be exactly as stated. I adjusted the position of my lamp in the viv until the main basking shelf, (in front of the lamp and about 12” below it) falls within what I think of as the "beneficial zone" – an area receiving between 50 uW/cm2 and 300 uW/cm2, ideal for my bearded dragons. Because the Megaray is a “Narrow Flood” lamp, this area is huge; it covers nearly 18” of basking shelf. A climbing ramp directly beneath the lamp, at a distance of at least 20”, is also well within the “beneficial zone”.

I introduced two bearded dragons to the vivarium when my tests were complete.

The response of these two has really surprised me. Their behaviour has changed overnight. These two are sisters, just over a year old, bought as babies. They have always been small, and one is quite definitely undersized for her age. They have always been timid and unusually shy, unlike my other dragons; they have been housed both together and separately, and despite all manner of encouragement have always tended to hide in corners, avoiding their basking spots and fluorescent UVB tubes wherever I have placed them in an attempt to keep these funny little creatures healthy.
When I put them into the viv with the Megaray, I expected them to avoid the main basking branch as it is quite exposed; I left the UVB fluorescent tubes running at each side of the viv to cover the corner shelves where I guessed they would hide. Instead, they chose to sit right in the middle, under the Megaray. They have not tried to hide since I put them in there. They are exploring, eating, and their whole demeanor has changed into that which I associate with happy bearded dragons- upright stance, jaunty expressions, and light, bright orange colouration.
I am eagerly watching to see whether this change is permanent. If it is... I want one of these lamps in each of my vivaria as soon as possible, I can tell you....
Sincerely,
Frances B

I highly recommend getting a MegaRay EB Flood from www.reptileuv.com for your UVB. The system is about $75 with replacement lamps being right around $45. It doesn't come with a fixture to put the lamp in so buy one of those, with a ceramic socket (they last MUCH longer than plastic sockets), at your local Home Depot or similar store. They're exactly the same as the ones in the pet stores, but they are 1/4 the cost. I have had one for about two weeks now, and both of my igs are showing increased appetite, and activity levels. My female, who has been recovering over the last couple of months from a near fatal bite inflicted by my male ig, is suddenly even regaining control of her left arm, which had been partially paralyzed due to the nerve damage caused by the bite. Anyway, I don't know what other UVB sources are capable of, but this one is DEFINTELY doing wonderful, miraculous things for the condition of my little girl. She actually squeaked at me one evening when I was trying to get her to go to bed. I had no idea iguanas could squeak, but she did. She was extremely frustrated with being pulled out from underneath her new light, and fought me so hard she squeaked.

As some of you know, I had problems with my first MegaRay, but BobMac gave me extraordinary personal service to make sure I got a product I was happy with. He has sent my malfunctioning bulb back to the manufacturer to have them examine it and see if they can strengthen a possible weakness and make the product even better.
