MEGARAY "Low UV" EB
60 watt FLOOD UVB LAMP KIT Realizing that there are reptiles that require low UV and staying with our tradition of caring about your particular reptile's health and needs- Reptile UV announces our newest version in the MegaRay series! The New MegaRay Low UV Kit! Now please do not be confused, this does not mean this is a weak bulb. Simply put- not all reptiles have the same needs. See the ratings on the individual bulbs to be sure that you adjust these for your particular setup and reptile! Creatures such as Chameleons simply do not need to be flooded with massive amounts of UV; for example, many Old World Chameleons bask only for a short period of time and spend the majority of their time under the cover of foliage. If we can give these creatures 10-50 microwatts per square centimeter (uW/cm2) of UVB they will stay amazingly healthy. Please understand that the ratings on the bulbs are taken at 12 inches distance, and of course the lamp can be positioned much higher than 12 inches away, so you can achieve lower numbers especially if you are filtering these lamps by placing a screen between them and the reptile. Remember most screens will block between 40 to 60 percent of the UV from either a lamp or the natural sun, as viewed through the screen. A bulb emitting 75 uW/cm2 at 12" might only emit 30-40 uW/cm2 at 12", through screening. Adjusting the height to more than 12 inches distance will disperse the UV over a wider area and will lower the amount of UV as it does so. Extending the bulb's distance to 18 inches instead of the original 12 will drop this number down even more, to maybe 10-15 uW/cm2. On the box there is a chart to show how the UV output can be measured from the height and distance of the bulb. MegaRay Lows are generally rated between 50-75 uW/cm2 at 12". All of our MegaRay Low bulbs are tested and hand marked with the actual UVB produced at 12". Currently, when you place your order, we provide a place for special instructions when ordering. This is intended as a way for you to "speak" to us and let us know your individual set-ups in your habitats and we can send you the right bulb for your habitat. This will not change... Now those serious reptile keepers who know that their particular reptiles need a lower range can order specifically the right bulbs for their reptile. Our mission is to help the inexperienced keeper to become educated and experienced and also to provide those seasoned herpers with a valuable resource for UV-dependent creatures, enabling them provide the necessary lighting to keep their creatures healty and happy and make them "smile." We personally keep Veiled Chameleons that have been raised from babies and have grown up to be healthy, big and beautifully majestic creatures too! So be assured that you are buying from people who want to ensure your creatures wellbeing and not some big company that cares only about their bottom line. We don't care what sells well- Only what does well for your reptile. The warranty for this lamp, and other product details are the same as for the regular MegaRay EB Lamp Kit (see previous page for details) Price: $85.00
